Roll the Dice at Los Dados

Shuffled in between the corner of Gansevoort and Washington street and across the street from the future High Line lays one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Meatpacking district. Los Dados which translates into "The Dice" serves home cooked Mexican fare in an affluent darkly lit setting. Chef and owner Sue Torres, is keen on bringing authentic food from the South to New York. Her influences draw from her yearly trips to Mexico as she travels around visiting Mexican chefs and traditional families who inspire her menu. The Antojitos - Appetizers offer handmade corn tortilla chips or the Coriander- crusted Tuna Tostadas with charred-serrano pineapple salsa. Tequila shots are at large and the white sangria is the best we ever tried.
Deserving of our haute restaurant choice of the week Los Dados even offers a take-out taqueria, complete with abuelita pressing tortillas. Open to the late hours of the night, this Mexican joint always holds a full house.
