Haute Restaurant of the Week: Giorgione

What do you get when a model's dining retreat is mixed with a photographers wine tasting lair? None other than Dean and DeLuca founder, Giorgio DeLuca's interpretation of a classic Italian restaurant. Maybe it is Giorgio's business partner who is married to former supermodel Lana Ogilvy, who draws in the modelesque crowd and a photographer clientele, which ranks in names such as Steven Klein andMiles Altridge. Whatever the case may be, Giorgione located at 307 Spring Street is one of New York's best kept secrets.
The staggering three page wine list of Italy's most praised wines is beyond impressive. Choose your bottle then watch servers browse through the open wine cellar. The mood of Giorgione is laid back and exceptionally chic with silvery metal table tops, pale grays and white walls, finished with a luminous cerulean wall set at the back. This Italian eatery has even been chosen as Taschen's 30 Top Restaurants to dine at in New York City.

The restaurant offers renowned wood-fire oven thin crust pizzas, pastas such as the Ravioli Di Ricotta e Spinaci al Pomodoro, antipasti's such as the roasted artichokes and a decadent oyster bar featuring Blue Point and Malpeque.

The cool downtown crowd always finds their way to this radiant restaurant even though it may be located on the desolate side of Spring Street. Special features also include various dining menus for brunch, lunch and weekend as well as an opulent dessert cart.
