Ilus is a brilliant little boutique that just opened at the beginning of June in Nolita on 248 Elizabeth Street. This brand new shop solves all your needs if you have a big event on your agenda but don’t want to buy a $750 dress to wear for one night. The shop caters to dresses that you can buy but also rent! Leasing costs range from about $60- $125 per dress. The dresses can go on loan for 3 days which makes it perfect for weekend parties in the Hamptons and can be returned without being dry cleaned!
Ilus has a rolodex of top designers to choose from such as current collections from Badgley Mischka, Cynthia Rowley, Nicole Miller and Foley+ Corinna. Styles come in forms of cocktail to floor lengths for all your charity and art opening occasions. Ilus Owner Linda Pratka will gladly help pick out what style or designer you want without being the overzealous salesperson.
Envelope clutches by Catherine Repetti glitter in metallic gold and sliver are also on loan as well. Ilus is open seven days a week and dresses can also be reserved for special occasions in advance.
It is torturous to window shop if you are passing by this boutique so it’s best to go in…and remember renting a dress doesn’t equal to buyer’s remorse.
